EarthSHAB

EarthSHAB is an open-source platform for simulating, predicting, and analyzing solar high-altitude balloon (SHAB) trajectories using real atmospheric data. The software combines physics, numerical weather data, and trajectory modeling to simulate how balloons move through complex wind fields.

Originally adapted from MarsSHAB, EarthSHAB has evolved into a full-stack toolkit for:

  • Earth-based balloon trajectory prediction

  • Integration with global weather datasets (ERA5, GFS)

  • 3D trajectory simulation with altitude-controlled dynamics

  • Visualization, analysis, and mission planning workflows

EarthSHAB combines atmospheric physics, numerical weather data, and trajectory modeling to simulate how solar balloons move through complex wind fields.
